KOREA... Towards Peaceful Reunification

안녕하세요!

The picture above is the unofficial flag of the Unified Korea. It simply shows the simple geographic image of a once-united Korea. At least the both sides of the two Koreas have plans in their peaceful reunification. After all, they hold the identity of "Korean" whether they are "Joseon-saram" or "Hanguk-saram" in their cultural language.



I am a pure Filipino of Kapampangan, Tagalog, and Visayan origin. Nevertheless, I am very passionate of Japanese and Korean cultures. After all, I'm 100% Asian like Japanese and Koreans. But of course, I am going to talk about Korea. I know that I don't have the right to talk about the culture of other country because of my identity as a citizen of the Philippines, but I only would like to express my deepest concern for the two Koreas. Not only I got hooked with Korean music and Korean language (either "Joseon-mal" or "Hangugeo") but also with their socio-economic and political status.



The picture above this paragraph is the Baekdu Mountain, the sacred mountain of the whole Korea. And I'm sure that the spirits residing in this heaven lake would once again rejoice if the two Koreas will be peacefully reunited.

Most of us know about the big differences of socio-economic and political situation between North Korea and South Korea. South Korea has a boosting economy and has much financial reserves in the World Bank. It has also made good political relations in other countries, including the Philippines. And even the modern Korean music and dramas has also hooked many people of different countries.



Speaking of North Korea, it is so sad to say they live in utter isolation and great oddity. They have almost closed their doors from the outside world, with the exception of China, the undercover aider of the North. Compared to the South, the government of the North has a lot of restrictions, including very few rights for their people within their jurisdiction. I also feel sorry for the North Koreans for they don't have the freedom to express themselves compared to the South Koreans who have much democratic freedom.



At least, the North and the South still hold the Korean heritage, culture, and language (though "Hangugeo" and "Joseon-mal" have only slight dialectal differences due to their past separation). Now I could remember Sandara Park singing "Arirang" (I wonder if she could still remember me). So much of my sincere hope for their near reunification. Now that North Korea has the Arch of Reunification located in Pyongyang.



Well, all the I can do for now is to pray for the future peaceful reunification of Korea. May our Blessed Mother and our Lord Jesus Christ grant them hope, love, and unity.

KIMONO and HANBOK

Anyway, I'm going to talk first about the tremendous KIMONO.

Kimono (着物/기모노), is the national costume of Japan. riginally the word "kimono" literally meant thing to wear (ki "wearing" and mono "thing") but now has come to denote a particular type of traditional full-length garment.

Kimono are T-shaped, straight-lined robes that fall to the ankle, with collars and wide, full-length sleeves. Kimono are wrapped around the body, always with the left side over the right (except when dressing the dead for burial) and secured by a wide belt called an "obi", which is usually tied at the back. Kimono are generally worn with traditional footwear (especially "zouri" or "geta") and split-toe socks (tabi).

Today, kimono are most often worn by women, and on special occasions. Traditionally, unmarried women wore a style of kimono called "furisode", which have floor-length sleeves, on special occasions. A few older women and even fewer men still wear kimono on a daily basis. Men wear kimono most often at weddings, tea ceremonies, and other very special or very formal occasions. Professional sumo wrestlers are often seen in kimono because they are required to wear traditional Japanese dress whenever appearing in public. They commonly wear the kind of casual Japanese attire that is referred to as "yukata", which is of plain unlined cotton.

Kimono hobbyists in Japan can take courses on how to put on and wear kimono. Classes cover selecting seasonally and event-appropriate patterns and fabrics, matching the kimono undergarments and accessories to the kimono, layering the undergarments according to subtle meanings, selecting and tying obi, and other topics. There are also clubs devoted to kimono culture, such as "Kimono de Ginza".

Now, I'm gonna talk about the alluring HANBOK.

Hanbok (한복/韓服) or Joseon-ot (조선옷/朝鮮옷) is the traditional dress of North Korea and South Korea. t is often characterized by vibrant colors and simple lines without pockets. Although the term literally means "Korean clothing", hanbok today often refers specifically to Joseon Dynasty-style semi-formal or formal wear that is worn during traditional festivals or celebrations.

I don't have so much things to explain about Kimono and Hanbok.

Since I adore Japan and Korea.

JAPAN and KOREA... and the WHOLE WORLD

Greetings to all people, especially to all faithful Roman Catholics and all Christian sects! Peace to you in the name of the Lord!

Tonight is Maundy Thursday. And this night is very special to all Christians, including myself as Roman Catholic. What makes this night special is that we Christians commemorate the passion and suffering of God the Son, Jesus Christ. Without our Lord, there will be no redemption in our fragile world.

Now, what I really want to post here is about my wish for the dominance of Roman Catholicism in the two of my adored countries in the world – JAPAN and KOREA. We all know that Japan and Korea are two of the world’s prosperous and progressive countries today. Without their essence of their unity, then their country will be forgotten from the ruins of past wars. So I hope that the citizens of these powerful countries will understand and collaborate with my wish, since this will be the key for their moralisation and betterment. Hence, the Redemption of the Lord is at their hands.

Speaking of Japan, I was really amazed when I knew that they quickly rose up from ruins after World War II. There was unity, collaboration, and harmony among them. No one thought of his or her own sake. At least, they have admitted of their past mistakes. For me, it was only nothing. For as the saying goes: you can never change the past, but you can change the present for the better future. And I can feel that the soul of Mount Fuji is rejoicing, and will always rejoice… for as long as the people of Japan will be always people. Blessed be the Land of the Rising Sun!

Speaking of Korea, I am still hoping that Joseon and Hanguk will reunite as a peaceful yet prosperous nation. And the soul of Mount Baekdu will surely rejoice by the time that the reunified Korea will be rebuilding back their land, which is only politically separated. After all, Joseon and Hanguk still share similarities, in accordance of their culture, tradition, and language. Communism should be eradicated off from the surface of the Land of the Morning Calm. And at the moment of their glorious reunification, it will up to the Koreans on how they will name their nation in their beautiful language.

Like what I have mentioned earlier, I wish for the dominance of Roman Catholicism in Japan and Korea. I am not saying that I have the desire to give myself up as a citizen of the Philippines, the Pearl of the Orient. As a Filipino, I also give part in praying for the stop of graft and corruption, for those elements only destroy the reputation of my country to the world. But since I also adore Japan and Korea, I pray that they must consecrate themselves in the spirit of Christianity, and must follow and live up the teachings of our Lord, Jesus Christ. And if they will also adopt the virtues of faith, hope, and love, then they will receive perpetual blessings from God. Sure enough, their political and socio-economical progress will be at height of their success.

By the time that Japan and Korea become Catholic nations, they shall become strong pioneers of Catholicism in Asia, together with the Philippines. And they shall become models of true faith, good hope, and selfless love. With the help of the Holy Spirit, they shall voice out the Word of God and proclaim the triumph of good over evil throughout Asia and the whole world.

Japan and Korea may still follow and live up with the teachings of Confucius, but they should also be with the teachings of Christ. Verily, the teachings of Confucius and Christ will serve as souls of moral humanity.

Tok-do or Takeshima should never become the main cause of political conflict between Japan and Korea. Instead, they should establish a law called TERRA NOSTRA wherein they will mutually share the rule on this beautiful island.

To the soul of Saint Francis Xavier and to all souls who have always desired to spread and proclaim Christianity, please pray that my desire will come into reality. AMEN.
